Movie Marathon

Last night we decided to have a movie marathon. The theme of the night was "scary movie" night. No, it's not the "Scary Movie" movies that we watched. First on the list was Wrong Turn. It was the typical, "Scream" or "I Know What You Did Last Summer" kind of flick where a group of friends go together but in the end only 1 or 2 persons survive. Wrong Turn 2 was next on the list but it was not that different with its prequel.

Third on the list was the movie Hostel 2. We were able to watch Hostel 1 and I really liked it so I had high hopes for the part 2. I really liked the twist in the ending. The last movie we watched was The Invisible. Unlike the previous movies, this was lighter and was not actually that scary. It was more like of a drama.

We start at 11 pm and we are able to sleep 830 am. Talk about a marathon...

SSDD: Same Sh*t Different Day

SSDD - This is an acronym I got from the movie Dream Catcher and I just thought that this was the perfect term to describe my day today. Nothing new, nothing unusual, just the same old sh*t you usually experience everyday. 'nuff said.

GJ 436T

A new planet has been discovered by Spanish astronomers and they named it GJ 436T. It has been discover using a new technique in astronomy that would likely speed things up in the search for planets resembling earth.

GJ 436T is located outside the Milky Way Solar System 30 light years away from earth. It is considered to be the smallest planet ever discovered outside the our solar system. GJ 436T has 5 times the mass of the planet Earth.

Unfortunately, this newly discovered planet is uninhabitable due to the fact that its distance from its star is quite near.

Maybe someday, in the not-so-distant future, scientists may be able to find a planet that will be inhabitable or is already inhabited by other beings with the help of newer technologies.

TV In Bedrooms of Teens Is Unhealthy

Ever since I was in primary school, I have always had a TV in my own room. I guess my parents thought it really wouldn't do me any harm. However, a recent study shows that TV in bedrooms in teens prove to be unhealthy.

A research was conducted on several hundreds of teens. Those who have TVs in their room were observed to clock in more hours on the tube more than those who don't. It has also been known that those who did have TVs in their own rooms had lower grades to those who don't.

This is not only a concern of academics. It is also an issue of health. Kids who have TVs in their own room has a greater possibility of becoming obese since teens will have less time to do exercises let alone other vigorous works.

After reading this article, I looked again at the mirror... I guess this the effect of me having my own TV in my room. hehe ^_^
